“On May 13th, we discovered our 17 year old Standardbred mare out in the pasture with her right hind foot caught in her halter. The buckle on the left side tore a large gash in her jaw. It was about 11 inches long and 8 inches wide. The wound was so deep you could touch the jaw bone and the tendons were torn on the top half. She had an eight week foal on her side.
